Car insurance comparison site Tiger.co.uk today unveiled better news for the UK’s younger drivers. Following a period of unprecedented increases in the costs of car insurance for young drivers, the site’s latest Tiger Watch results indicate a return of relative stability to the market.
The research, based on thousands of car insurance quotes across a wide range of different driver profiles, show that prices have not just flattened in September, but have actually dropped by about 4% for young men and just under 1% for young women. Looking at the quarterly data for 2011 the numbers also reveal that the July to September period saw prices for young drivers’ car insurance drop by around 5.5% for both sexes.
Commenting on the Tiger Watch results the site’s Commercial Director said: “The stabilisation of car insurance prices in general is of course welcome news for all of Britain’s motorists, coming as it does after a period of significant inflation in premiums. For many young drivers’ car insurance has become almost unaffordable and so the drop in rates that we’ve seen over the last three months is worth highlighting. We would still recommend that anyone looking for cheap car insurance for young drivers makes their purchase decision not just on price but also on the level of cover and quality of service that they receive. Using a car insurance comparison site like Tiger.co.uk will enable motorists to compare car insurance prices as well as specific policy features.”
